President-elect Donald Trump has firmly denied circulating rumors that he plans to sell his shares in the social media company.
Labeling these claims as "fake, untrue, and probably illegal," Trump suggested that such rumors might be the work of market manipulators or short sellers aiming to influence stock prices.
The denial comes on the heels of a significant spike in the company's stock, which saw an 8.7% increase, reaching $30.15 on the Nasdaq and peaking at $32.
This surge prompted a temporary halt in trading due to volatility following Trump's comments. "There are fake, untrue, and probably illegal rumors and/or statements made by, perhaps, market manipulators or short sellers, that I am interested in selling shares of Truth," Trump wrote, addressing the speculation directly.
