Renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has accused Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), of transforming churches into business ventures.
This accusation stems from Adeboye's announcement of plans to establish a church within walking distance of every home in Nigeria.
Falana argues that this strategy is "profit-driven expansion" rather than a genuine spiritual mission.
Falana aired his concerns during an interview with Sahara TV, igniting discussions on the commercialization of religion in Nigeria.
He criticized the move, suggesting it prioritizes financial gains over spiritual leadership.
This critique comes shortly after Adeboye claimed that divine intervention had stabilized Nigeria’s currency, stating, “If not for the prayers of my followers and myself, the naira could have fallen to ₦10,000 per dollar.”
