The Federal High Court (FHC) of Nigeria has officially announced its annual Christmas vacation schedule.
According to a statement released by Chief Judge Justice John Tsoho, through Dr. Catherine Christopher, Director of Information, the court will commence its holiday break on December 16, 2024, and resume activities on January 7, 2025.
During this period, the core judicial divisions in Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt will remain operational to handle urgent cases. Justice Tsoho emphasized that "only matters relating to enforcement of fundamental rights; arrest or release of vessels and matters that concern dire national interest shall be entertained by the vacation judges."
This ensures that critical legal functions continue uninterrupted despite the holiday season. The designated vacation judges include Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice M. S. Liman for the Abuja division, Justice Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac D. Dipeolu for Lagos, and Justice P. M. Ayua and Justice A. T. Mohammed for Port-Harcourt.
This arrangement highlights the court's commitment to maintaining essential judicial services during the festive period. Justice Tsoho extended his best wishes to his colleagues, saying, "Justice Tsoho wishes his fellow lordships a wonderful Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance."
