Fenerbahce Coach Mourinho Finally React to Osimhen's Move to Rivals Galatasaray

Fenerbahce manager José Mourinho has addressed the media regarding Victor Osimhen's recent loan move to their fierce rivals, Galatasaray.

The Nigerian striker joined Galatasaray from Napoli on a season-long loan, with the Turkish club agreeing to pay Osimhen €6 million in wages for the 2024-25 campaign. This deal does not include an option or obligation to buy.

Mourinho, who was unveiled as Fenerbahce's head coach on June 2, 2024, expressed his admiration for Osimhen's talent but also shared his reservations.

"Osimhen is a great player. If I were at a club that could give €70-75 million, I would take him," Mourinho stated. However, he added, "I have a very good relationship with him. I just don’t like the way he throws himself down a lot."

The Portuguese coach, known for his candid remarks, acknowledged the impact Osimhen could have on the Turkish league, describing the signing as "brilliant." Despite his praise, Mourinho's comments highlighted a particular behavior of Osimhen that he finds frustrating when facing him on the pitch.

Osimhen's move to Galatasaray came after a failed attempt to secure a permanent transfer away from Napoli this summer. Chelsea and Al Ahli were among the clubs interested, but neither could finalize a deal before their respective transfer windows closed.
