The North-West region, the Nigerian Federal Government has deployed Dr. Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, along with top military chiefs to Sokoto State.

This mission aims to eradicate the menace of banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism, specifically targeting the notorious bandit leader Bello Turji and his gang.

Dr. Matawalle emphasized the urgency of the operation, stating, "While in the North West, we will supervise operations and ensure that Bello Turji and his bandits gang are flushed out."

The deployment shows the government's unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in the region. The directive, issued by President Bola Tinubu, is part of an intensified effort to rid the North-West of these persistent threats.

"The Federal Government is deeply concerned about the persistent threat posed by banditry and terrorism in the North West particularly," Matawalle said. "We are ready to deploy all necessary assets to ensure that these criminal elements are flushed out and peace is restored to our communities."

The government expressed its sadness over the activities of terrorists and bandits, explaining that this strategic move highlights their dedication to protecting citizens' lives and properties.

"The time is up for these bandits and terrorists as increased and consistent operations will weaken all their bases," Matawalle added. Matawalle assured residents of Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara, and Kebbi states, as well as the entire North-West region, that the security forces would leave no stone unturned in their mission. "I will be on the ground in the North West with the CDS and other military chiefs, leading our brave men and women in uniform," he said. He also called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with the security forces.
