Chidimma Adetshina, the first runner-up at the Miss Universe 2024 competition, has announced her decision to retire from the world of pageantry.
This announcement was made during an interview with Silverbird TV, where Adetshina candidly shared her reasons for stepping away from the spotlight.

Adetshina, who was also crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, described her experience in the pageant world as "traumatic."
Despite her remarkable achievement of finishing in the top two at the prestigious Miss Universe contest, she revealed that the journey was fraught with personal challenges. "Finishing in the top 2 is still a shocker for me… Honestly, I am done.
Pageantry was a real traumatic experience for me," she confessed. Her decision to quit is not just about leaving behind the glitz and glamour; it is also a step towards personal growth and self-discovery.
Adetshina plans to relocate from South Africa to Nigeria, focusing on her education and establishing her identity outside the pageant circuit. "I want to focus on myself and establish who I am. And forward my education as well," she stated.
Adetshina's journey has not been without controversy. She previously withdrew from the Miss South Africa contest due to scrutiny over her nationality, which sparked debates and even led to a petition against her participation in Miss Universe by some South Africans.
Despite these challenges, she emerged victorious as Miss Nigeria, showcasing her resilience and dedication.
