The Dangote Refinery has commenced the loading of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, into trucks.

This marks the first time in years that locally produced petrol is being loaded within the country, a move expected to have far-reaching implications for fuel availability and pricing.

The announcement was made by the Dangote Group through a video posted on their official X account.

The video showcased the first set of trucks ready for loading at the refinery. "HAPPENING NOW: First set of trucks set for loading of PMS at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery," the company stated.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) also confirmed the arrival of over 300 trucks at the refinery, prepared to transport the newly produced petrol.

This event follows agreements validated by high-ranking officials, including the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, allowing NNPCL to lift petrol from the Dangote Refinery. Petroleum marketers are optimistic about the potential impact of this development.

They believe that the commencement of petrol distribution from the Dangote Refinery will not only end the persistent fuel scarcity but also lead to a reduction in fuel prices.

This sentiment was echoed by industry experts who see this as a positive shift for the Nigerian economy. "This is a pivotal moment for our nation," said a spokesperson for the Dangote Group. "We are proud to contribute to the stability and growth of Nigeria's petroleum sector."
