Five Dead, Several Hospitalised After Church Feast in Ibadan

Five worshippers have died and several others were hospitalized following a feast at a church in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The incident occurred last Sunday during a traditional celebration event, which is part of the church's regular practices.

According to reports, "No fewer than five people have reportedly lost their lives after eating during a feast in one of the churches in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital." Approximately 50 individuals who also consumed the food were admitted to the Infectious Disease Centre in the Olodo area of Ibadan. Fortunately, these individuals have since been discharged as of Saturday.

The cause of death remains unknown, prompting an investigation by relevant stakeholders, including the state ministry of health. The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed that "an investigation has commenced on the matter" and assured that updates would be provided accordingly.
