Preston North End's forward, Milutin Osmajic, has been handed a massive suspension following a biting incident in a dramatic turn of events during an English Football League match.

The altercation occurred on September 22, 2024, during a heated game against local rivals Blackburn Rovers. Osmajic admitted to biting Blackburn defender Owen Beck on the neck late in the match, which ended in a 0-0 draw. Despite the severity of the act, Osmajic was not immediately sent off, even though Beck reportedly informed referee Matt Donohue about the bite.

The English Football Association responded by imposing an eight-match ban and a fine of 15,000 pounds (approximately $20,000) on Osmajic for his misconduct.

This decision signifies the FA's commitment to maintaining discipline and sportsmanship within the league. Blackburn's manager, John Eustace, noted that Beck was visibly shaken after the incident, highlighting the emotional impact such actions can have on players.

Preston's manager, Paul Heckingbottom, refrained from commenting extensively until the written reasons for the punishment were released, but he emphasized, "All I can say is that there’s no place for (biting)." He acknowledged that while mistimed tackles are part of the game, actions like biting must be addressed firmly.

Osmajic's suspension means he will miss several crucial matches, including the upcoming fixture against Derby on November 23. This incident draws parallels to past controversies, such as Luis Suarez's infamous biting incidents, which also resulted in lengthy bans.
