Ford has announced plans to cut 4,000 jobs across Europe by the end of 2027.

This decision is part of a broader strategy to address financial challenges and adapt to the industry's shift towards electric vehicles.

The job cuts will predominantly impact Germany and the United Kingdom, with 2,900 positions being eliminated in Germany, 800 in the UK, and an additional 300 throughout western Europe.

Dave Johnston, Ford's European vice-president, emphasized the necessity of these measures, stating, "It is critical to take difficult but decisive action to ensure Ford’s future competitiveness in Europe."

This move comes as the European car industry grapples with high manufacturing costs, a challenging transition to electrification, and increased competition from Chinese manufacturers.

The restructuring reflects the intense pressure on traditional carmakers to innovate and remain viable in a rapidly evolving market.

Ford's announcement highlights the significant disruptions facing the automotive sector, showing the need for strategic adjustments to maintain a competitive edge.

This decision follows a previous announcement in February 2023, where Ford revealed plans to cut 3,800 jobs in Europe, focusing on reducing model development and accelerating the transition to electric vehicles.
