Baltasar Engonga, the former Director-General of Equatorial Guinea's National Financial Investigation Agency, finds himself at the center of a scandal that has rocked the nation.

Engonga, who was once tasked with upholding financial integrity, is now remanded in Malabo’s notorious Black Beach Prison following a court order.

The charges against him are as sensational as they are serious, involving allegations of extramarital affairs with high-profile women, including the sister of the country's president.

The scandal erupted during a fraud investigation into Engonga's activities, which led to the discovery of sex tapes at his residence.

These tapes allegedly document his illicit relationships with the wives of over 20 government ministers, the Director-General of Police's wife, and even his own brother's wife.

These revelations have not only led to his arrest but also his dismissal from the agency, with Zenón Obiang Obiang Avomo stepping in as his replacement.

A media outlet based in Equatorial Guinea, Ahora EG, highlighted the gravity of the situation, noting that "the scandal surfaced during a fraud investigation into the 54-year-old economist."
