Nigerian President Bola Tinubu found himself at the center of public debate following his travel itinerary during a two-week annual leave.
The President embarked on his vacation on October 2, 2024, beginning in the United Kingdom before proceeding to France for what was described as an "important engagement."
This decision drew criticism from some Nigerians, who voiced their discontent on social media, particularly in light of the country's ongoing economic challenges.
The Presidency, through Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, responded to these criticisms by asserting that the President is "free to travel anywhere he desires" during his official leave.
Onanuga emphasized that the trip was part of Tinubu's regular annual leave, stating, "It is the President’s private time and he can visit anywhere he desires."
