French Authorities Orders Osama bin Laden’s Son, Omar bin Laden, to Leave the Country

French authorities ordered Omar bin Laden, the son of the slain Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, to leave the country.

This decision was announced by France's interior minister, Bruno Retailleau, and is rooted in social media posts from 2023 that allegedly advocated terrorism.

Omar, who is now 43 years old, has been residing in Normandy since 2016 after leaving his father at the age of 19. Retailleau stated on X (formerly Twitter) that Omar had been living in the department of Orne in Normandy as the spouse of a British national.

The minister emphasized that the expulsion order was issued "in the interests of national security," and the courts have upheld its legality. Furthermore, Retailleau signed a ban preventing Omar from returning to France for any reason.

Omar bin Laden's personal life has also attracted media attention, particularly his marriage to Jane Felix-Browne, a British woman significantly older than him, which was confirmed in 2007. Despite his attempts to settle in the UK, British authorities rejected his bid.
