Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has vehemently refuted allegations that protesters looted sensitive documents related to his corruption trial.
He described these claims as "baseless and comical," asserting that they were part of a smear campaign orchestrated by Kano State's Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
According to Ganduje, credible intelligence reports indicated that the protest, which tragically turned violent, was directly sponsored by Governor Yusuf’s administration.
Ganduje accused the Kano government of attempting to tarnish the image of President Bola Tinubu's administration.
He stated, "It is alarming that a sitting governor would incite such chaos and violence within his state, putting the lives and properties of innocent citizens at risk."
He condemned this behavior as reckless and irresponsible, suggesting it was an effort to destabilize Kano, undermine regional peace and security, and damage the President's reputation.
In response to these events, Ganduje called for a federal investigation into the Kano State Government’s involvement in the protests.
He emphasized the need for accountability, stating, "The sponsors of this violence must be brought to justice to ensure that this does not set a dangerous precedent for other states."
Ganduje also criticized the narrative that protesters had stolen documents from his trial, calling it a diversionary tactic by the Kano government.
He remarked, "It is laughable that governance has been reduced to a huge joke in Kano state that the state government will condescend low to suggesting that demonstrators broke into a court and carefully selected documents relating to the trial of the APC National Chairman, handpicked them and take them away in this digital age, no discerning mind will buy into this pedestrian propaganda."
He questioned the logic behind the allegations, asking, "What happened to the documents with the government lawyers?"
Ganduje argued that the Kano government was using these claims to divert attention from their own culpability in the violence and to cover up their incompetence in handling both security and legal matters.
