Former President George W. Bush, after maintaining silence throughout the presidential election, has finally spoken out. Despite facing criticism for not endorsing any candidate, Bush chose to focus on the Senate's control rather than the White House race.

On November 6th, 2024, he took to Instagram to congratulate Donald Trump on his victory as the 47th President of the United States and J.D. Vance as Vice President-elect. Bush also expressed gratitude towards President Biden and Vice President Harris for their service.

Bush's statement highlighted the robust voter turnout as a testament to the health of the republic and the strength of democratic institutions. He and his wife, Laura, extended their thanks to election officials, poll workers, and volunteers for ensuring a free and fair election.

They joined fellow citizens in praying for the success of the new leaders at all levels of government, hoping for continued blessings on the country.

While contemporaries like former Vice President Dick Cheney endorsed Kamala Harris, Bush remained neutral. His stance was defended by former President Bill Clinton, who noted Bush's clear position on issues such as immigration and his support for local congressman Colin Allred against Senator Ted Cruz in Texas.

Clinton remarked on the difference in political life post-presidency, emphasizing Bush's lifelong Republican allegiance without needing to declare it explicitly.

The election results were announced by the Associated Press around 5:30 am ET, with Trump's victory being described as historic. Fox News projected Trump as the winner after decisive victories in three swing states, securing 270 Electoral College votes. The official confirmation came when Wisconsin was called for Trump, cementing his lead over Harris.
