Gombe Hospital Restricts Staff From ‘Mining’ Activities During Duty Hour

The Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe (FTH) has implemented a new policy prohibiting its employees from engaging in cryptocurrency activities or any form of mining during work hours.

This decision was made to ensure that staff members remain focused on their primary responsibilities of attending to patients.

According to Adamu Usman Tela, the Deputy Director of Administration at FTH, the hospital took this step proactively to prioritize public health. Tela explained on Trust Radio that the management had not received any complaints but acted preemptively to prevent potential distractions.

An internal circular clarified that while staff are barred from such activities during working hours, they are free to engage in them during their personal time. To enforce this directive, the hospital has deployed SERVICOM, ACTU, and security officers to monitor compliance.

Cryptocurrency and mining activities have gained popularity among Nigerian youths, including wage earners, prompting the hospital to take this measure.
