Gov Adeleke Denies N8bn LAUTECH Refund Claims, Calls for Transparency

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has firmly denied allegations that his administration received an N8 billion refund from the Oyo State Government concerning Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).

This clarification comes amidst ongoing political and financial tensions between the two states over the university's ownership.

Governor Adeleke, through his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, stated, "Contrary to the fake news, the Oyetola administration actually received a payment of three billion, five hundred million naira from the Oyo State government as part of the LAUTECH settlement payment before leaving office."

He further explained that nearly two billion naira was spent by the previous administration under former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

Since assuming office, Adeleke's administration has only received an additional five hundred million naira, bringing the total funds received from Oyo State to four billion naira.

These funds have been allocated towards infrastructure upgrades across various sectors in Osun State.

The dispute over LAUTECH's ownership dates back to the Olagunsoye Oyinlola administration, with tensions peaking during Oyetola's tenure.

Governor Adeleke emphasized his commitment to transparency and accountability, urging the public to disregard misleading reports.

"As a transparent administration, all inherited and newly generated funds are properly managed by state financial managers," he assured.
