Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has launched the state Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to oversee the forthcoming Local Government (LG) elections.

The inauguration ceremony took place in Awka, where Soludo emphasized the importance of delivering "nothing short of sterling service" to the people of Anambra.
The newly established six-member commission is chaired by Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe and includes members Bernadine Obande, Osita Igbokwe, Chinedu Nnalue, Helen Umeh, and John Okeke.
Their primary responsibilities, as outlined by the governor, include organizing, undertaking, and supervising all elections related to elective offices within the LG councils of the state.
Additionally, the commission is tasked with dividing the LG areas into wards or constituencies as prescribed by the Anambra Electoral Law 2024.
Governor Soludo's administration has been proactive in enhancing the state's electoral processes. This move aligns with his broader vision of ensuring free, fair, and credible elections, a mission echoed by Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
