Governor Siminalayi Fubara officially swore in the newly elected chairmen of the 23 local government areas.

The ceremony took place at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt, marking a pivotal moment following the recent Local Government Council elections.

The Action Peoples Party (APP) emerged as the dominant force, securing victories in 22 out of the 23 local government areas, while the Action Alliance claimed one chairmanship seat.

This outcome shows the APP's stronghold in the region's local politics. During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Fubara congratulated the new chairmen on their electoral successes and urged them to prioritize their campaign promises.

He emphasized the importance of improving the welfare of their local communities, stating that their new responsibilities should focus on enhancing community welfare and accountability.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Bala Mohammed, the Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, who attended to show his support for the newly elected officials.

This gathering of political figures highlights the significance of the occasion and the expectations placed on the new leadership to deliver on their promises.
