Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has agreed to a new one-year contract extension with the club, as reported on November 19th, 2024. This agreement includes an option for an additional year, potentially extending his tenure until the summer of 2026.

The 53-year-old's existing contract was set to expire at the end of the current season. If the new terms are fulfilled, Guardiola will have been in charge of the club for over a decade.
Guardiola's decision to stay comes amid a challenging period for Manchester City, who have recently experienced a four-game losing streak across all competitions, marking the worst run of defeats during his time at the club.
Despite these setbacks, Guardiola remains committed to lifting the team back to its top level. He expressed his determination by stating, "It is a tough challenge, but I am here. It will be a tough season — we knew that from the start. But this is what it is. I like it, I love it, I want to face it and lift my players and try it."
The announcement of Guardiola's contract extension is seen as a pivotal boost for the Premier League champions, who are currently second in the league table, five points behind leaders Liverpool. The club is also dealing with more than 100 charges of alleged financial wrongdoing brought against it by the Premier League, which they deny.
Guardiola's renewal is expected to bring stability to the club, especially with the upcoming departure of director of football Txiki Begiristain, who will be replaced by Hugo Viana from Sporting CP.
