Gun Battle Erupts Between Nigerian Soldiers, Bello Turji-Led Bandits at Sabon Birni, Sokoto

Nigerian soldiers are currently engaged in a fierce gun battle with bandits led by the notorious Bello Turji in the Sabon Birni area of Sokoto State.

This confrontation, which began on November 14, 2024, highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region.

Abdulsalam Suleiman Izuagbe, a senior consultant and public affairs analyst, provided insights into the gravity of the situation. "There is a war going on in Sabon Birni; Bello Turji is facing the Nigerian Army as I talk to you," he stated.

The conflict has rendered travel from Shinkafi to Sabon Birni perilous, with Izuagbe warning that "to think it’s a normal business as usual is missing the point."
