Hajia Dada, Mother of Late President Yar'adua Passes Away at 102

Hajia Dada Yar’adua, the revered mother of former Nigerian President Umaru Yar’adua and former Vice President Shehu Yar’adua, has passed away at the age of 102. She died on Monday evening at the Katsina Teaching Hospital following a brief illness.

The funeral prayer for Hajia Dada is scheduled to take place at the Yar’adua family house in Katsina at 1:30 pm on Today, September 3, 2024. Her passing marks the end of an era for a family that has significantly influenced Nigeria's political landscape.

Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar expressed his deep sorrow over her death, describing her as a maternal figure who welcomed everyone with open arms.

In his heartfelt statement, Atiku said, "In the absence of my beloved mother, I adopted Hajiya Dada as a mother. Indeed, she was a mother of multitudes, as her home was always a place of refuge where she welcomed everyone with love. She will be sorely missed."

Atiku further extended his condolences to the Yar’adua family, friends, and associates, as well as to the government and people of Katsina State. "On behalf of the Atiku Abubakar family and team, I express my profound condolences to the Yar’Adua family, friends, and associates over the loss of this gem of inestimable value. My condolences also go to the government and people of Katsina State. May her sins be forgiven and that she be granted Aljannah Firdausi," he added.
