F.Adenike

On October 2, a significant humanitarian operation saw the return of 180 Nigerians from Libya to Lagos, marking a crucial step in ongoing international efforts to assist stranded individuals. This group, which arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, comprised 67 females, 55 males, 42 children, and 16 infants, reflecting a diverse demographic. The operation was facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) as part of a voluntary evacuation initiative.

The Lagos territorial office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) played a pivotal role in receiving the returnees. Upon arrival, they were subjected to biometric profiling by the Nigerian Immigration Service to ensure proper documentation and identification. Additionally, various government agencies provided humanitarian support, ensuring that the returnees had access to basic necessities to meet their immediate needs.
