The House of Representatives has mandated the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to remit N3.602 billion to the Federal Government's Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF).

This directive was issued during an investigative hearing in Abuja, led by Rep. Bamidele Salam, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.

The Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) had previously flagged JAMB for not remitting its operating surplus.

According to Mr. Bello Aliyu, a representative from the FRC, JAMB's liabilities were N390.725 million in 2021 but surged to N3.602 billion in 2022.

During the hearing, JAMB's Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Mufutau Bello, explained the discrepancy in remittance figures. He attributed it to the FRC's push to increase JAMB's revenue contribution from 25% to 50%, despite a concession by the Office of the Accountant-General. "The increase in our liabilities is due to the FRC's insistence on raising our revenue contribution," said Mr. Bello.
