Nigerian activist and politician Aisha Yesufu clarified her political stance, stating unequivocally that she is not a member of the Labour Party (LP) or any other political party.
Despite her involvement in the 2023 LP presidential campaign council, Yesufu emphasized her independence from formal political affiliations. She declared, “I am not a member of the Labour Party. I have never been a card-carrying member of any party.”
Yesufu, known for her role as co-convener of the 'BringBackOurGirls' movement, highlighted her commitment to financial independence, asserting that she has never sought appointments or contracts from politicians. “I dare anybody; living or dead to say that I, Aisha Yesufu, have ever been to your place to look for appointment, contract or whatever. I am a trader! I buy, I sell, I distribute, build and sell houses,” she stated.
Beyond her personal clarifications, Yesufu offered a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu, labeling him a “bad person” amid Nigeria's ongoing economic challenges. Her comments resonate with those of Senator Ali Ndume, who criticized Tinubu’s close associates for implementing policies that exacerbate inflation and destabilize the exchange rate. Yesufu echoed these concerns, showing the detrimental impact of current leadership on the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
