Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), openly challenged Sim Fubara, the current Governor of Rivers State, questioning his contributions and achievements since assuming office.
Speaking at a reception organized by the Rivers State Ijaw Peoples Congress, Wike emphasized the significant efforts he made to ensure Fubara's governorship, stating, "I had sleepless nights making Sim Fubara the Governor of Rivers State."
Wike's remarks come amidst an ongoing conflict between him and Fubara, a rift that has persisted despite intervention attempts by President Bola Tinubu. Wike criticized Fubara's lack of tangible contributions and condemned those who envy their political success but fail to achieve similar milestones. He asserted, "Who has Fubara made? All the things you see are people who are envious of our growth. They couldn’t do what we are doing today."
Highlighting his commitment to the Ijaw community, Wike contrasted his actions with those of others who claim to support the Ijaw cause but have not delivered results. "I have made an Ijaw man governor of Rivers State. God used us. All of us here had sleepless nights. So, who loves Ijaw more? Is it people who come out on television who cannot even make their Ijaw brother governor?" he questioned.
