I Nearly Poisoned Myself Over Fake News – Eniola Ajao Says

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao has shared a harrowing experience that nearly drove her to self-harm due to the impact of fake news.

In an interview on "Nollywood on Radio," a program dedicated to Nigerian cinema, Ajao recounted how false information about her circulated online, causing significant emotional distress.

She stated, "I almost poisoned myself because there was news about me online that was far from true. It was the first time in my life that I faced something so painful."

The misinformation led her to withdraw from social activities, and she admitted to not eating for seven consecutive days. Her family, including her sisters and son, intervened, urging her to prioritize her well-being. This ordeal highlights the severe consequences of fake news and its potential to harm individuals' mental health.
