Harrison Ford's iconic fedora from the 1984 film "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" fetched an impressive $630,000. The hat, crafted by the Herbert Johnson Hat Company in London from sable-colored rabbit felt, was part of the personal collection of the late stunt performer Dean Ferrandini. Ferrandini, who stood in for Ford during the filming, faced challenges keeping the hat in place, often using foam pieces to ensure a snug fit.
The auction, conducted by Propstore, highlighted the enduring value and cultural importance of movie memorabilia. Other notable items included an Imperial scout trooper's helmet from "Return of the Jedi," which sold for $315,000 and a ghost costume from the 1996 movie "Scream," which went for $270,900.
This sale shows the lasting appeal of iconic film props among collectors and fans worldwide. As Propstore's expert noted, "Keeping the fedora in place during filming was an ongoing challenge," reflecting the practical difficulties faced during the production of such legendary films.
The 1984 film "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" also starred Kate Capshaw as nightclub singer Willie Scott and Ke Huy Quan as Short Round, adding to its rich legacy in cinematic history.
