IGP Vows to Clean Up Corruption and Misconduct within Nigerian Police Force

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has publicly condemned the actions of certain members of the Nigeria Police Force involved in extortion and high-handedness. .


Speaking at a conference with senior police officers in Abuja, IGP Egbetokun emphasized the urgent need for reform within the force.


"The integrity of our police force is paramount," stated Egbetokun. "We must ensure that all officers adhere to the highest standards of professional conduct."


To combat these issues, the IGP has directed specialized units such as the IGP X-Squad, Monitoring Unit, and Complaint Response Unit (CRU) to conduct regular oversight of officer activities.


This initiative aims to prevent abuses and restore public trust in law enforcement.


Egbetokun also issued a stern warning to officers exploiting his name for financial gain, underscoring his commitment to accountability and integrity within the force.


"Any officer found guilty of such practices will face severe consequences," he warned.
