The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, has announced that Nigeria will no longer experience traditional election seasons.

This declaration comes as the country gears up for the Ondo State Governorship election, scheduled for November 16.

Speaking at the Fourth Regular Conservative meeting with political parties in Abuja, the INEC Chairman emphasized, “I have repeatedly said that there is no election season in Nigeria any longer.”

With just 29 days until the Ondo election, INEC has already completed 10 out of the 13 activities outlined in their Timetable and Schedule of Activities. These accomplishments include presenting the voter register to political parties and preparing identification tags for 24,148 agents involved in the election.

The remaining tasks involve publishing the Notice of Poll, concluding campaign activities, and managing operations on Election Day.

To facilitate voter participation, INEC has commenced the distribution of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) from the last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). These cards are available for collection at 203 wards across Ondo State from October 17th to 21st, and subsequently at local government offices from October 23rd to 29th.

The commission has also uploaded a register containing names and photographs of new voters to its website, aiming to streamline the PVC collection process.
