IPOB Urges Southeast Residents to Dismiss False Sit-at-Home Directive

Esther

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a statement urging residents of the Southeast to disregard a circulating sit-at-home order.

This directive, which has been spreading through social media, is attributed to an unidentified group and not IPOB. The organization clarified that this order is the work of "criminal elements and Finland-based infiltrators who are not our members," as stated by IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful.

The misleading messages have been advising residents to stay off the streets, keep children home from school, and for market and shop owners to close their businesses on October 21 and 22.

These messages also included threats against those who do not comply. However, IPOB has reassured the public that they did not issue any such directive and emphasized that they do not support unnecessary sit-at-home orders. Emma Powerful further explained, “We have since suspended it and anybody declaring it is a criminal element that should be ignored.”
