Israel has reportedly destroyed a secret Iranian nuclear weapons research facility located near Tehran.
This facility, known as Taleghan 2 and part of the larger Parchin military complex, was involved in designing explosive mechanisms necessary for nuclear bombs.

Despite being believed to have been closed since 2003, recent U.S. intelligence detected renewed activity at the site, suggesting preparations for potential nuclear weapon production.

According to sources from both the United States and Israel, the attack not only targeted the nuclear research facility but also destroyed three nearby buildings used for mixing solid fuel for ballistic missiles.
The Institute for Science and International Security confirmed these details, highlighting the strategic impact of the operation.
A U.S. official, speaking to Axios, noted the extreme secrecy surrounding the facility, stating, "It was a top secret thing. A small part of the Iranian government knew about this, but most of the Iranian government didn’t."
This revelation underscores the clandestine nature of Iran's nuclear ambitions and the challenges faced by international observers in monitoring such activities.
Despite the destruction, Iran has consistently denied pursuing a nuclear weapons program.
Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has previously asserted that "Iran is not after nuclear weapons, period," although he also remarked that world leaders "wouldn't be able to stop us" if they chose to pursue such capabilities.
