Israel-Hezbollah Conflict: FG Urges Citizens in Lebanon to Register for Evacuation

As the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalates, the Nigerian government is grappling with the reluctance of its citizens in Lebanon to return home.

Despite concerted efforts by the Nigerian embassy, only about 500 out of over 2,000 Nigerians have registered for evacuation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated emergency protocols and is collaborating with various agencies to facilitate a smooth evacuation process.

The Nigerian Embassy in Beirut has advised citizens to remain indoors and follow the guidance of local authorities. The government is urging those who have not yet registered with the embassy to do so promptly. Plans are underway to deploy a C-130 aircraft or other available flights for the evacuation. Fortunately, no Nigerian casualties have been reported in the ongoing conflict.

The government has expressed gratitude to the international community for their support and remains committed to closely monitoring the situation.
