The Dangote Refinery has clarified the pricing of its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, setting it at ₦960 per litre for shipments and ₦990 per litre for truck deliveries.

This disclosure comes in response to claims from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), who assert that they can import petrol at lower costs.

Dangote has firmly refuted these assertions, arguing that any imported fuel sold at cheaper rates must be of inferior quality compared to its own products. "If anyone claims they can land PMS at a price cheaper than what we are selling, then they are importing substandard products," stated Anthony Chiejina, the Group's Chief Branding and Communications Officer. He emphasized that such practices could harm both the health of Nigerians and the longevity of their vehicles.

The refinery aligns its pricing with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) benchmark but has offered reduced rates for shipping sales.

This strategic pricing move shows Dangote's commitment to supporting domestic industries by providing high-quality, affordable petroleum products refined locally.

The company aims to foster a robust local market, countering the influx of potentially low-quality imports. Chiejina further highlighted the importance of protecting domestic industries, drawing parallels with international practices where countries impose tariffs to safeguard local production.

"While we continue with our determination to provide affordable, good quality, domestically refined petroleum products in Nigeria, we call on the public to disregard the deliberate disinformation being circulated," he added.
