In a meeting at St Charles Borromeo College of Nursing and Midwifery in Onitsha, Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, emphasized the importance of allowing nurses and other professionals to pursue opportunities abroad.
He stated, "Nurses shouldn't be stopped from seeking greener pastures abroad," highlighting the potential benefits of such migration for both individuals and the nation.
Obi said the significance of education and health as future currencies, suggesting that investing in these sectors is crucial for national prosperity. He argued against restricting the movement of professionals, noting that Nigeria's large population of over 200 million people presents an opportunity to educate and empower individuals who can contribute to the economy through foreign remittances.
During his visit, Obi also made a financial contribution to the institution, reinforcing his commitment to investing in knowledge and healthcare. He remarked, "What we are doing is not charity, we are rather investing in you. We need to invest in knowledge and health because it is the future."
