Roc Nation, the full-service management, music publishing, and entertainment company founded by JAY-Z in 2008, has announced a major merger with Equity Distribution (EQ).
This strategic move has led to the formation of a new entity known as ROC Nation Distribution. The merger aims to prioritize the needs, interests, and focus of music artists, providing them with enhanced access to technology, business expertise, and creative freedom.
The newly formed ROC Nation Distribution will operate as a hybrid model, offering unique services that allow artists to retain ownership of their masters and maintain creative control over their work.
Artists will also benefit from a proprietary dashboard that provides data analytics and the option to opt into various services across the company. This initiative is designed to support and empower independent artists while providing them with the necessary tools and services to distribute their music effectively.
Despite the merger, Roc Nation will continue to sign new talent and strengthen its roster, which includes high-profile names such as Rihanna, Shakira, J. Cole, Big Sean, and many others. The company also manages prominent figures like A$AP Rocky, Megan Thee Stallion, DJ Khaled, Jadakiss, and Alicia Keys.
One notable change following the merger is the departure of co-president Shari Bryant, who stepped down after five years with the company. Under her leadership, Roc Nation signed several artists, including Maeta, Ambre, Reuben Vincent, and Kalan FrFr.
