Governor Uba Sani has approved a new minimum wage of ₦72,000, effective from November 2024.

This decision shows the governor's commitment to enhancing workers' welfare and supporting low-income, vulnerable, and underserved communities. Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Ibraheem Musa, emphasized that this wage increase is part of the administration’s broader strategy to uplift the living standards of its citizens.

"The approval of the new minimum wage was part of the Sani-led administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare," Musa stated. He further highlighted that this initiative is designed to ease financial burdens and improve productivity among civil servants. Complementing the wage increase, Governor Sani has also announced the launch of a Free Transport Scheme.

This program will introduce 100 CNG-powered buses to provide daily transportation for civil servants, managed by a Joint Management Committee comprising representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the state government.

The scheme aims to alleviate financial pressures on workers and enhance their daily commute experience.
