Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, is set to present a comprehensive economic agenda aimed at addressing key issues such as inflation, housing shortages, and unfair price hikes by companies.

This marks her first major policy announcement since replacing President Joe Biden atop the Democratic ticket last month.

Harris's plan includes several significant measures designed to improve the economic well-being of American families.

One of the central elements of her proposal is the construction of three million new housing units over her first term. This initiative aims to lower housing costs and end America's housing shortage.

"We will launch an urgent and comprehensive four-year plan to lower housing costs for working families and end America’s housing shortage," campaign officials stated.

In addition to tackling the housing crisis, Harris has adopted much of Biden’s economic agenda, including promises to eradicate "junk fees" and reduce prescription drug prices.

She has also pledged not to raise taxes for those making under $400,000 annually.

A key aspect of Harris's economic vision is consumer protection. She plans to introduce a federal ban on price-gouging, with penalties for food companies that unfairly increase prices.

This move is expected to resonate with many Americans who have been struggling with rising costs. "Elections aren’t just about winning.

They’re about accumulating political capital for a particular agenda, which Ms. Harris can’t do unless she articulates one," noted a conservative Wall Street Journal editorial.

Harris's approach contrasts sharply with that of her Republican rival, Donald Trump.

She argues that Trump's plan for tariffs of up to 20 percent on imports will drive up costs for food and other everyday items, further burdening American families.

"More Americans now trust Harris to handle the economy than her Republican rival Donald Trump," according to a new University of Michigan poll.

Despite facing personal attacks from Trump, who has criticized her mixed-race heritage and intelligence, Harris remains focused on her economic goals.

Her policies, such as cutting medication costs for seniors, have bolstered public trust in her ability to manage the economy.

As the Democratic National Convention approaches, Harris is under increasing pressure to clearly define her economic agenda.

While some strategists advise her to keep things vague to maintain enthusiasm, others urge her to distance herself from Biden, whose approval ratings on the economy have struggled.

However, their joint appearance on Thursday suggests they remain closely aligned.

Harris's upcoming speech in Raleigh, North Carolina, is highly anticipated and expected to provide more details on her economic plans.

As she prepares to unveil her vision, the nation watches closely, eager to see how her proposals will shape the future of the U.S. economy.
