Harry Kane's performance on Tuesday night was nothing short of historic as he led Bayern Munich to a resounding 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

The match, held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, saw Kane score four goals, breaking Wayne Rooney's record for the most Champions League goals by an English player. Kane's tally now stands at 34, surpassing Rooney's previous mark of 30.
Kane's goals came in the 19th, 53rd, 73rd, and 78th minutes, with three of them being penalties. Reflecting on his hat-trick of penalties, Kane said, "To be honest, after the second (penalty) I didn’t really know what to do with the third one, but thankfully I was able to put it away."

His first goal came from the penalty spot after Aleksandar Pavlovic was fouled by Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel. Kane then scored his 31st goal on a rebound after goalkeeper Ivan Nevistic parried Joshua Kimmich’s shot.
The match was also notable for several other records. Bayern became the first team to score nine goals in the Champions League era, a feat previously achieved only in the old European Cup. Leon Goretzka’s header in stoppage time sealed this record.
Additionally, Thomas Müller set a new record for the most Champions League appearances for a single club, playing his 152nd game for Bayern and breaking Xavi Hernandez's record at Barcelona.
Kane's recent form has been exceptional, with nine goals in his last three games for club and country, including a hat trick against Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga and two goals for England against Finland in his 100th international game. Last season, Kane and Kylian Mbappé were joint top scorers in the Champions League with eight goals each.
Bayern's new coach, Vincent Kompany, praised the team's performance, stating, "Everyone has a point to prove here and we've started the season that way. The way the coach wants us to press and be intense with and without the ball is important. We know we can dominate teams with the quality we have."
The match against Dinamo Zagreb was one of the highest-scoring games in Champions League history, with Bayern's emphatic start to the European competition setting a high bar for the season ahead.
