The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has launched an investigation into a significant drug supply scandal, summoning Garba Kwankwaso, the Managing Director of Novomed Pharmaceuticals and nephew of prominent politician Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. This probe has also led to the arrest of several high-ranking officials.

The scandal was brought to light by filmmaker and content creator Galandanchi, who alleged that the 44 interim chairmen in the state were instructed to deposit approximately N9million each into Novomed Pharmaceuticals' account for the procurement of drugs and medical equipment. This revelation has caused considerable uproar within the state.

A source within the PCACC disclosed to Daily Sun, "Garba Kwankwaso is being questioned in connection with the ongoing investigation into the drug supply scandal that is rocking the state."

Alongside Garba, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Mohammed Kabara, and the Chairman of the Kano State branch of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Abubakar Bashir, have also been detained.

The commission accuses these individuals of violating financial management laws, public procurement regulations and anti-corruption statutes. Additionally, they are charged with awarding contracts without the consent of the state's governor, Abba Kabiru Yusuf.

"Two or three other persons have so far been arrested and they are cooperating with us," stated a top management staff member of the PCACC. He further emphasized, "Contrary to the concerns and fears of the opposition, the Commission has the capacity to investigate any person or institution that falls short of the laws governing public finance in the state."
