Kanye West, rapper and fashion mogul, is embroiled in a legal battle after being hit with a $1.5 million lawsuit.

The suit, filed by BackGrid USA Inc. and its British affiliate, Backgrid London Ltd., accuses West of copyright infringement for sharing paparazzi photos of himself and his wife, Bianca Censori, on social media platforms like Instagram and his Yeezy website without proper licensing.

The lawsuit, obtained by Law 360, claims that West's actions have potentially cost the companies "up to hundreds of thousands of dollars" in lost revenue.

The plaintiffs are seeking $150,000 in damages for each of the ten photos shared, along with attorney fees and an accounting of any profits West may have gained from the posts.

"Defendant West’s career relies heavily on the strictures of copyright law as an artist and entrepreneur, and therefore is on notice of the requirements to obtain a license prior to exploiting the works of others," the lawsuit states.

This legal issue adds to a series of controversies surrounding West. Recently, he made headlines for showing support for Diddy and R. Kelly, despite their alleged sex crimes.

At a party celebrating the release of his and Ty Dolla $ign's album "Vultures 2" in Los Angeles on August 11, West played songs by both artists during his DJ set.

Producer Mike Hector, who attended the event, tweeted, "I’m at this party and Kanye DJing. He played 2 Diddy songs and then an R. Kelly song right after. This n-gga do not give a fuck."
