The 2023 presidential candidate for the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has expressed his willingness to potentially serve as deputy to Peter Obi of the Labour Party in the upcoming 2027 elections.

This announcement was made in a video clip that has been circulating on the X microblogging platform, where Kwankwaso, speaking in Hausa, stated, "I’m bigger than Peter Obi politically, I’m his elder brother, I’m a PhD holder, I performed better than him when I was a governor of my state. I’ve no problem with deputizing Peter Obi, but only if certain conditions are met."
Kwankwaso's openness to this political collaboration is contingent upon the establishment of mutual trust between the two parties. He emphasized the need for meaningful discussions with Peter Obi, indicating a readiness to engage in talks to form an agreement ahead of the 2027 elections. This potential alliance could signify a major shift in the political landscape, as both leaders bring substantial electoral influence to the table.
In the 2023 elections, Peter Obi demonstrated considerable political strength by winning the majority of votes in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory, finishing third overall with approximately 6,101,533 votes. On the other hand, Kwankwaso showcased his dominance in Kano State, securing victories in 38 out of 44 local government areas and amassing a total of 1,496,687 votes.
