The announcement was made via a post on CAF's social media pages, highlighting the anticipation surrounding the awards ceremony scheduled for December 16, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco.

The ten-man shortlist showcases a diverse array of talent from across the African continent. Alongside Lookman and Troost-Ekong, the list includes notable players such as Achraf Hakimi from Morocco, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, and Simon Adingra from Cote d'Ivoire, representing Brighton & Hove Albion.

Other nominees are Amine Gouiri from Algeria, Edmond Tapsoba from Burkina Faso, Chancel Mbemba from DR Congo, Soufiane Rahimi from Morocco, Ronwen Williams from South Africa, and Serhou Guirassy from Guinea.

This year's selection reflects a blend of established football stars and emerging talents, all recognized for their exceptional performances and consistency throughout 2024. The CAF Awards, which have been celebrating African football excellence since 1992, will determine who will succeed Victor Osimhen, the 2023 winner, as Africa’s top player.
