The Labour Party's 2023 Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi recently spearheaded a campaign in support of Sola Ebiseeni, the party's candidate for the upcoming November 16 governorship election in Ondo State. The campaign featured a roadshow across Akure, the state capital, where Obi urged residents to vote for Ebiseeni and his running mate, Mr. Dayo Awud.

Emphasizing the need for progress, Obi declared, "It is time to rebuild Ondo State and bring on board those who would provide employment, education, and infrastructure to the citizens and not those who usually show up every four years to canvas for votes."

Obi criticized the current state of democracy in Nigeria, describing it as "transitional politics," and called for a shift from consumption to production to create jobs.

He implored the electorate to reject vote-buying, stating, "We don’t want people to give us money which they have stolen from us and thereafter, they continue to steal more." Instead, he advocated for stopping the stealing and starting the rebuilding.

Sola Ebiseeni, confident in the Labour Party's popularity in Ondo, highlighted the party's historical success in the state, noting that it had been in power from 2009 to 2017. He wore an orange outfit, symbolizing the Labour Party, and pointed out that many projects in the state were associated with the party's colors.

The Labour Party also expressed confidence in the state's Resident Electoral Commission, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, urging her to ensure a free, fair, and transparent electoral process. The party reaffirmed its commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law, calling on all stakeholders to support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in conducting credible elections.
