In a video that has since gone viral, Hayes is seen shaking hands with a dealership employee, appearing assured that his scheme had succeeded.
However, moments after being handed the keys to the vehicles, he was apprehended by police officers who were waiting nearby.
Memphis Police Department confirmed the arrest and detailed the charges against Hayes, which include forgery and attempted theft of property valued between $60,000 and $250,000. His bond has been set at $50,000.
