Manchester United have reached a full agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The deal, which has been in negotiations for over a month, is valued at an initial £42.2 million but could rise to £50.7 million (€60 million) with performance-related add-ons.
Ugarte, who was PSG's primary midfield target last summer, will join United just a year after PSG paid Sporting Lisbon £51.1 million for him.
Ugarte, a 23-year-old Uruguayan, has always had his heart set on a move to Old Trafford. He is expected to arrive in the UK today, August 27, 2024, to undergo a medical and finalize personal terms.
This transfer makes Ugarte one of the most major signings for Manchester United this season, as he is seen as a perfect fit to bolster their defensive capabilities under manager Erik ten Hag.
