Man Utd Confirms Van Nistelrooy’s Departure as Amorim Arrives in UK

Manchester United has officially confirmed the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy from his role as interim head coach, coinciding with the arrival of Rúben Amorim in the UK.

Van Nistelrooy, who stepped in following Erik ten Hag's dismissal, managed the team for four matches, securing three victories and one draw, with the team scoring a total of 11 goals under his guidance. Despite this successful stint, Van Nistelrooy was not retained in Amorim's backroom staff, leading to his exit.

The club expressed gratitude towards Van Nistelrooy, acknowledging him as "a Manchester United legend" and appreciating his contributions during his tenure.

The Dutchman, who had previously played five seasons at United, left the club citing a lack of support from the board as a reason for his earlier departure in May 2023. He had returned to United as an assistant under Ten Hag before taking on the interim head coach role.

Rúben Amorim, the new permanent head coach, arrived at Manchester United's Carrington training ground on Monday afternoon. He was welcomed by senior club executives, including CEO Omar Berrada, after landing at Manchester Airport.

Amorim, who previously managed Sporting Lisbon, is set to lead United in his first match against Ipswich Town on November 24, 2024. His contract with Manchester United extends until June 2027, with an option for an additional year. The club reportedly paid Sporting an extra €1 million on top of his €10 million exit clause for an early release from his notice period.
