Ahead of a pivotal match against Aston Villa, Manchester United created headlines by finalising the signing of 16-year-old Chido Obi Martin, a former Arsenal sensation.
The transfer was finalized after receiving Premier League approval, marking a significant addition to United's youth ranks. Obi Martin, renowned for his goal-scoring capabilities, netted an impressive 32 goals for Arsenal's U18 team last season and gained widespread attention in 2023 by scoring 10 goals in a single U16 match against Liverpool.
Despite being offered a new contract by Arsenal, Obi Martin chose to leave due to concerns about his pathway to the first team, which opened the door for Manchester United to swoop in. The young striker, who has also represented Denmark at the youth level, is expected to join United's U18 and U21 teams. Nick Cox, head of Manchester United's academy, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We welcome Samuel Lusale, Chido Obi-Martin, and James Overy to the club."
