The Appeal Court in Abuja has affirmed Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the legitimate President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
This decision comes after a protracted legal battle initiated by Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, and his supporters, who contested Baruwa's leadership.

X court's judgment, delivered on November 16, 2024, supports an earlier verdict from the National Industrial Court dated March 11, 2024.
The three-member panel of Justices Hamma Akawu Barka, Nnamdi Dimgba, and Asmau Ojuolape Akanbi unanimously declared the appeal "lacking in merit," thereby confirming Baruwa's election as the NURTW president.
The court emphasized that "the evidence before the court clearly establishes Baruwa as the elected president of the NURTW," leaving no legal grounds to overturn the previous decision.
In addition to affirming Baruwa's presidency, the court imposed a financial penalty on MC Oluomo's faction, ordering them to pay ₦100,000 in damages to Baruwa and his supporters.
This ruling effectively concludes months of legal disputes over the union's leadership, paving the way for Baruwa to assume his role without further contention.
