Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has been officially removed from the union.
This decision was announced by the Southwest Zonal Chairman, Olalekan Folorunsho, also known as Lekan Salami, on Tuesday, November 19.
MC Oluomo, who previously served as the Lagos State chairman of the NURTW, faced this setback due to his failure to comply with the union's protocols.
According to Salami, "Our Constitution is clear. A returning member must submit a formal application to the national leadership, which is subject to approval.
Furthermore, such a person must spend two years at the grassroots level before becoming eligible to seek any office." MC Oluomo reportedly did not adhere to these stipulated procedures, rendering him ineligible for any position within the organization.
This announcement comes during a prolonged power struggle within the NURTW, where factions have been challenging the leadership of Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa.
The Appeal Court recently upheld Baruwa's presidency, and Salami reaffirmed his leadership, urging the government to recognize the legitimate authority within the union and resist condoning acts of disorder. He emphasized, "Gangsterism has no place in our union, and MC Oluomo should be called to order."
